For patients with numerous dental problems such as many short, worn, cracked, chipped or broken teeth, a full mouth reconstruction can be a lifesaver. At our office in NYC, a full mouth reconstruction is the re-creation of every tooth in the mouth. It can restore your looks, eliminate chronic pain, and improve your overall health.
In my practice I combine the art of cosmetic dentistry with the science of neuromuscular dentistry to provide the highest quality of care for a total mouth reconstruction.
This step involves measuring and recording your jaw muscles in various positions. It is absolutely necessary that your bite is corrected before any restorative work can begin. If I determine that a bite imbalance exists, I may start treatment by fitting you with an orthotic. An orthotic is a virtually invisible device which is fitted in your mouth and works to slowly and gently reposition your jaw over a period of weeks or months, depending upon the severity of the imbalance.
During the time that you are wearing the orthotic I will carefully monitor your progress. You will need to be examined once a month to make sure the repositioning is progressing as planned and that you are comfortable and pain-free. Only when I am satisfied that your jaw is balanced will I begin the dental restorations associated with the full mouth reconstruction.
Prior to setting the final restorations, I you will be fitted with a temporary to wear with for a couple of weeks. When you come back, I will replace your missing teeth with dental implants or place crowns or veneers over your damaged teeth. Your new teeth will have been custom-fabricated in a top dental lab to match the color and shape of your natural teeth. They look and feel so much like your own teeth that you may forget they are replacements!
After your teeth have been newly restored subsequent to the total mouth reconstruction, you can expect a brief adjustment period as you acclimate to your new more attractive and healthy mouth. After that, you can expect to experience complete comfort. Follow-up visits for refinements are routinely scheduled.
My staff and I are passionate about providing the best care to all our full mouth reconstruction patients. If you experience any discomfort at all, please call the office. We are always available for you.
