Recently, a patient visited my office that I hadn’t seen for a couple of years. The last time I treated her, I beautified her smile by placing porcelain veneers on her upper front teeth. I was really pleased with the end result, if I do say so myself. In fact, I thought she looked MARVELOUS. But more importantly, she was over-the-top ecstatic and quite memorably gushed with excitement when she looked in the mirror, repeatedly. So when she appeared in my office the other day, of course she received a big warm Sinkin greeting. And of course I asked her the “who, what, where, how, whys” of her life these past two years. (I don’t “interrogate ” all my patients; just the ones I feel particularly close to). This was her reply: “”Well, you did such a great job with my teeth that shortly afterwards, I met a guy, we got married and have a one year old named Jack!”I then reminded her that back when she was deciding on whether to have the veneers, I had told her that improving her appearance was making an investment in herself.I guess it paid off.– Michael
