Laughter & Human Contact

There are some people who just have the knack to drop all pretence and engage you in the kind of light-hearted banter that evokes sincerity, laughter and the warm feelings of human contact that are free and gleeful.

I saw two such individuals in my dental office this week. Each one, accompanied by their warmth and friendliness, brought a playfulness to the office that was embraced by all of us and reciprocated in kind.

What a gift it is to bring such sunshine to others. When they left, we were all smiling and so were they. Then it dawned on me that one of my guiding principles is to try make people feel a little better when they leave the office than when they first arrived.

As for my aforementioned patients:

It takes two to tango and we love to dance.
